Central to the development of school policies and
processes is the concept that student welfare covers every aspect of
schooling for every child.
At Henty Public School, we strive to
empower students through developing confident, responsible and
independent decision makers who have the knowledge, skills,
attitudes and security to adapt to their rapidly changing world.
CORE RULES
Student Discipline in NSW
Government Schools
All
students in NSW government schools are expected to:-
- Attend every school day,
unless they are legally excused, and be in class on time and
prepared to learn.
- Maintain a neat appearance,
including adhering to the requirements of the school’s uniform or
dress code policy.
- Behave safely,
considerately and responsibly, including when traveling to and from
school.
- Show respect at all times
for teachers, other school staff and helpers, including following
class rules, speaking courteously and cooperating with instructions
and learning activities.
- Treat one another with
dignity and respect.
- Care for property
belonging to themselves, the school and others.
Behaviour that infringes on
the safety of others, such as harassment, bullying and illegal or
anti-social behaviour of any kind, will not be tolerated.
FAIR DISCIPLINE
The Henty Public School Fair
Discipline Policy is based on the work covered in Student Welfare
over many years at our school. Our aim is to create a secure,
consistent and caring environment; one that communicates
expectations of behaviour clearly, keeps our students safe and
supports those children with challenging behaviours. In doing so,
we strive to provide a learning environment that is motivating and
appropriate to enable all learners to experience success.
Within this environment
students are encouraged to:
* take responsibility for
their learning, welfare and behaviour
* contribute to the welfare
of others
* contribute to the school
community
The Fair Discipline Policy
is made up of school rules and a code of student’s rights and
responsibilities and strategies that will:
* promote good discipline
and effective learning
* recognise and reinforce
student achievement
* deal with unacceptable
behaviour
ANTI RACISM and BULLYING
The New South Wales Department of Education and
Training rejects all forms of bullying and racism.
Students who are experiencing problems with racism or bullying need
to speak to a teacher.
Parents are requested to encourage students to report racism or
bullying to the Principal or Assistant Principal.
